Liguria: Regional Plan 2024 against eating disorders approved.

Genoa, the Liguria Regional Council, on the proposal of the Health Councillor Massimo Nicolò, has approved the Regional Plan 2024 “Nutrition and Eating Disorders Liguria 2.0 (DNA Liguria 2.0)”. With a total allocation of 265.000 €, the plan aims to counter the spread of eating disorders (DCA) through structured patient care and the strengthening of care pathways.

The main objective is to ensure the continuity of care in the various healthcare settings, distributing resources between the regional operating units on the basis of the number of patients treated in 2023, with an increase of 10% to meet the growing need.

“Anorexia, bulimia and other eating disorders are on the rise”Said Massimo Nicolò, Health Councillor of the Liguria Region. "For this reason, we are increasing efforts on prevention, staff training and expansion of services. The new plan aims to promptly intercept those who need help and to improve the capacity for care, also through strengthening the workforce".

Plan DNA Liguria 2.0 marks a step forward in the fight against eating disorders, focusing on:

  • Prevention and awareness, with targeted information campaigns;
  • Integrated care pathways, to ensure effective and continuous care;
  • Human Resources Strengthening, with investments in training and recruitment of dedicated personnel
