Bucci at the Rimini Meeting: "Liguria, Europe's Natural Gateway to Infrastructure and Innovation"

"Italy is the pier that crosses the Mediterranean and Liguria represents the natural gateway to Europe: a thousand years ago the Maritime Republics already had this concept clear, today we must make it valid for the present and the future".
Thus the President of the Liguria Region Marco Bucci in his speech at the round table "Italy, hub of the Mediterranean: infrastructure, innovation and sustainability for the transport of the future" within the framework of the 46th Rimini Meeting.

The round table was attended, among others, by Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Edoardo Rixi, ENAC President Pierluigi Di Palma, ACI Extraordinary Commissioner Tullio Del Sette, President of Drivalia Giacomo Carelli e Sergio Gianotti of Amazon Web Services.

Bucci al Meeting di Rimini: “Liguria gateway naturale d’Europa tra infrastrutture e innovazione”

"A region must have a vision in all fields: from infrastructure to innovation, from the environment to social issues. But beyond this, it is necessary to start from a clear strategy that transforms the vision into concrete works capable of generating economic development, employment and quality of life.

Roosevelt, at the time of the New Deal, reminded us that without infrastructure there is no development: today this principle is even more true. Infrastructure must be built, maintained, and protected, and must remain the property of citizens and the state.
I'm talking not only about physical infrastructure, but also digital: the submarine cables landing in Liguria are now as essential as ports and railways, because the transport of data has the same strategic value as the transport of goods and people”.

Bucci then recalled the major projects underway in Liguria:

  • new breakwater, a work destined to challenge time,

  • Third Pass, which will allow us to get to Milano in an hour,

  • submarine connections of strategic value,

  • Ventimiglia border,

  • Finale–Andora railway doubling,

  • motorway doubling and Gronda.

"Since 2017, significant resources have been allocated to Ligurian infrastructure: over 18 billion in investments. which guarantee the future not only of Liguria but also of the entire North West macro-region.
If we work with the same commitment and determination that we have put into the reconstruction of the San Giorgio Bridge, we will build the future of our land and of the country".

Within the Fiera di Rimini there is also the institutional stand of the Liguria Region, “Piazza Liguria”, a space dedicated to tourist and cultural promotion of the area.
