Deputy Minister Cirielli participated in the event "Trieste: science for the 20230 agenda", scheduled from 15 to 18 November 2023 and promoted by the #TogetherforSDG campaign.
The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Edmondo Cirielli, participated, together with the Mayor
Roberto Dipiazza from Trieste, at the event “Trieste: science for the 2030 Agenda” organized as part of the campaign #TogetherfortheSDGs in Trieste scheduled from 15 to 18 of November 2023. The event was attended by the President of Area Science Park and the Scientific and Innovation System of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Caterina Petrillo, the Regional Councilor for the Environment, Energy and Sustainable Development Fabio Scoccimarro, as well as the Directors of the international organizations of the scientific center of Trieste. In his closing speech, Deputy Minister Cirielli he stated that “Trieste is a city of science and scientific cooperation which, also thanks to the presence of the international scientific hub, makes research and training available to support the most vulnerable countries, starting from Africa where Italy is involved with initiatives to guarantee growth , stability and development in the perspective of the Mattei Plan". “Trieste is the expression of a territory that integrates research, innovation and industry within a dynamic region in which science translates into development and technologies thanks to industrial parks such as the Area Science Park. It is from this perspective that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, together with the Ministry of Universities and Research, supports the Scientific and Innovation System of Friuli-Venezia Giulia as a network to enhance the territory
promoting the connection between scientific and economic realities". In the afternoon, Deputy Minister Cirielli visited the headquarters of the international science center of Trieste, which receives funding from the Italian Government amounting to 35 million euros, of which almost 15 from the MAECI, for the implementation of important scientific training and research activities for the benefit of Countries of the Global South.
