Forlì: Sexual violence against a minor, the alleged perpetrator has been placed under arrest

In the past few days, the Carabinieri of the San Martino in Strada Station have tracked down and placed under arrest on suspicion of crime a 19-year-old foreign citizen, of no fixed abode, considered the presumed perpetrator, together with others, of the crime of gang rape against a minor.

The activity was triggered by a complaint filed by a teenager from Forlì, accompanied by her parents, who said that the previous afternoon, while she was in Piazza Saffi in Forlì, she had been approached by a group of young people who, after having harassed her with insults and vulgar comments, followed her onto the bus, which had arrived in the meantime and was supposed to take her home. Once on the bus, despite the young woman's attempts to get away from them, they surrounded her further, continuing with the harassment and going as far as groping her repeatedly, behavior that triggered a strong defensive reaction from the girl, which made them desist and flee.

The immediate investigations started by the Carabinieri, thanks to the detailed indications of the victim, confirmed by the images extracted from the video surveillance systems and from those recorded inside the bus, allowed to identify and stop the main author of the serious episode.

In this circumstance, given the real risk of escape and the possible repetition of the crime, the young man - in agreement with the Public Prosecutor's Office - was placed under judicial police custody by the military of the Arma as the presumed perpetrator of the crime of sexual violence in conjunction with others, for whose identification the Carabinieri are carrying out rigorous investigations, coordinated by the local Public Prosecutor's Office.

In the subsequent validation hearing, recognising precautionary requirements and considering the subject seriously suspected of the crime of gang rape, the Judge for Preliminary Investigations of the Court of Forlì, as requested by the local Public Prosecutor's Office, he was ordered to be held in prison, and was taken to the Forlì prison and locked up.
