Florence: extraordinary territorial control services by the Carabinieri.
The Carabinieri's commitment to combating criminal resurgences in various neighborhoods of Florence continues.
In the last week, 4 individuals have been arrested for possession with intent to deal:
• A Peruvian born in 1998 was found in possession of 29 grams of marijuana, 23 grams of hashish, 3 grams of cocaine, 3,5 grams of heroin and €845,00 in cash, believed to be the proceeds of drug dealing.
The suspect, already known to the police, was taken to the Sollicciano prison in Florence at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor's Office in Florence;
• Subjected to a check at the intersection between via Palazzuolo and via Maso Finiguerra, he fled. Blocked by the military operating after a few meters, he was found in possession of a total of 16 grams of narcotics (cocaine, hashish, ecstasy, crack and heroin).
The arrested man, after a night spent in a holding cell, was taken to a summary trial and was released with the application of the measure of the obligation to report to the Judicial Police;
• during the afternoon of November 14, two Tunisian citizens born in 2006 were found in possession of approximately 70 grams of hashish. Following the summary trial, the two suspects were subjected to the obligation to report to the Judicial Police.
The guilt of the accused will be assessed during the trial and they will be presumed innocent until a final conviction is issued.
The “high impact” service carried out in the areas adjacent to and bordering via Palazzuolo and the San Jacopino district involved approximately 200 military personnel, 80 vehicles deployed in the area together with the Special Units (operational intervention teams of the mobile line, Canine Unit, Forestry Unit, Helicopter Unit, NIL and NAS).
During the operations, approximately 254 individuals were checked, many of whom were already known to the police force, and 15 vehicles. Of the people checked, 9 were reported to the local Prefecture as users since they were found in possession of small quantities of
various narcotic substances; an expulsion order was drawn up against 4 other people pursuant to art. 2 TULPS in compliance with the Ordinance of the Prefect of Florence.
The Carabinieri of the NIL and NAS inspected a minimarket located in via Ponte alle Mosse, imposing fines for a total amount of approximately 6.500 euros and immediately suspending the business activity for the violation of important regulations regarding safety at work (absence of the Risk Assessment Document and failure to train workers).
The NAS Carabinieri inspected a butcher's shop located in Via dei Neri, imposing administrative fines for a total amount of 3.000 euros and immediately suspending the business activity due to the presence of live and dead cockroaches inside the commercial establishment.
During the operations, again, the use of the canine unit allowed the discovery and seizure, near the Strozzi Fallaci tram stop, of 170 grams of hashish hidden in the vegetation present and another 20 grams of the same substance hidden in via Palazzuolo.
The operations summarized so far, carried out in close coordination with other Police Forces and under the aegis of the local Prefecture, will continue for the rest of the year with the main aim of preventing widespread crime and urban decay, such as predatory crimes and those related to drugs, in order to guarantee the rights and freedoms of citizens in everyday life.
The services performed every day by the Departments of the Territorial Force remain guaranteed.
