EU Innovation Funds: AI and Advanced Industry in Emilia-Romagna

Innovation. Industrial research and development, from the Region over 1,6 million euros to finance 7 projects based on artificial intelligence.
Emilia-Romagna invests in industrial innovation with over 1,6 million euros to finance seven projects based on artificial intelligence. Involved companies from Ravenna, Faenza, Bologna, Sassuolo and Modena, with the support of the Regional Fesr Program 2021-2027. The initiatives range fromadvanced biofuel analysis to robotics in the ceramics sector, up to home care for the elderly.
Vice President Colla: “Only with an eye to the future and the synergy between SMEs and the research system can Emilia-Romagna continue to grow by creating new products and services" Leading the initiatives are the entities of Ravenna, Faenza (Ra), Bologna, Sassuolo and Modena. La measure, financed with European resources from the Pr Fesr 2021-2027, supports projects for aggregations of small and medium-sized enterprises in Bologna – The realization of laboratories equipped with the main industrial technologies, implemented in collaboration between SMEs and accredited laboratories. But also infrastructures for testing and experimenting with new products, processes and services such as benches, demonstrators and plants, as well as pilot lines. All characterized by the application of Artificial Intelligence. These are, in summary, the areas of the 7 innovation projects of the Emilia-Romagna production chains financed by the Region which has brought the available resources to over 1,6 million euros (+222 thousand euros compared to what was initially foreseen by the call) to give full coverage to all the selected initiatives.
Il call was funded by viale Aldo Moro with European resources from the Regional Fesr Program 2021-2027. The 7 projects selected, out of a total of 27 submitted, trigger overall investments for over 2,7 million euros.
The initiatives see how leader; ReFuel Solutions Srl, Modena; Alma automotive, Bologna; Cosmopack Srl, Modena; Tomware Scarl, Ravenna; Tms Srl of Faenza (Ra); Vst Srl, Modena; United symbol Spa, Sassuolo (Mo).
"Thus, we support innovation projects for the production chains of Emilia-Romagna that include the implementation and adoption of new technologies, recognizing that artificial intelligence will increasingly play a central role in future industrial research and development activities.– says the Vice President of the Region with responsibility for Economic Development, Vincenzo Colla-. An intervention consistent with the choice of making the world of research dialogue so as to develop infrastructures at the service of the territory and the country, with sustainable growth that guarantees quality work".

Our projects

The project 'Method and device for the characterization of technical fluids', presented by ReFuel Solutions Srl of Modena, focuses on the development of an advanced system for analyzing biofuels and technical fluids.
The project 'Moved-Ai' (led by Alma automotive, Bologna) concerns the creation of a Smart box capable of detecting temperature, vibration and position parameters that affect the quality of the drug during the transport phase to the dispensing points.
'Ti-Predico' (Cosmopack Sr. leader, Modena) is an initiative to develop a demonstrator based on Gen-Ai technologies (artificial intelligence systems capable of generating new content, ideas or data) that allows for the systematic resolution of problems in the automation sector.
The project 'Elderly assistance operations centre' (led by Tomware Scarl, Ravenna) provides an assistance service aimed primarily at people in need of domestic support, activated upon direct request or by detection of events, based on real-time data collected in homes. 'Motor Valley Experience 2.0', led by Tms Srl of Faenza (Ra), aims to create an infrastructure for the development and management of digital sports events by integrating advanced technologies.
Il 'FitTrack' project, (led by Vst Srl, Modena), aims to create prototypes in the wearable devices market with innovative solutions, with the aim of synthesizing and combining in a single product the health monitoring models related to physical activities developed.
'Ceramic', led by United symbol Spa of Sassuolo (Mo), focuses on innovation in the picking process (picking, grouping and sorting of items or goods from a warehouse) in the ceramic sector through the integration of advanced robotics and artificial intelligence.
