Ragusa: yet another mistreatment in the family, 55-year-old from Vittoria arrested

The synergy between the Carabinieri and the Public Prosecutor's Office has rendered harmless a violent and dangerous man who had already been the protagonist of mistreatment towards his wife a few years ago.

A phone call to 112 raised the alarm in a condominium in the center of Ragusa where some residents, worried by the noises and the crying of a woman who was asking for help outside her front door, contacted the Carabinieri, fearing that the situation could have more serious consequences.. A radio car from the Mobile Radio Section of the Ragusa Company, which intervened promptly, found itself faced with a woman with her minor daughter in a very agitated state and with violent crying fits. On the girl's face there were signs of previous physical violence.

The woman, a 48-year-old of Tunisian origin, and her 16-year-old daughter, from a previous marriage, were therefore removed from the house in order to acquire information on the events that had occurred shortly before. The woman, in a panic, reported to the Carabinieri that episodes of harassment, physical and psychological violence perpetrated over time, culminating in the episode in question, in which the man, a 55 year old from Vittoria, for trivial reasons, allegedly pulled her in order to move her after having placed herself between him and his daughter, whom he subsequently managed to hit full in the face with slaps.

The Carabinieri, believing it necessary to investigate the facts and verify the woman's statements, accompanied both of them to the barracks. The investigations carried out following the event made it possible to verify the existence of previous episodes and to ascertain their recurrence. A few years ago the man had already been separated from his wife following a complaint, but then the two had started living together again. However, the episodes had not ended and this time the man lashed out even against the daughterThe 55-year-old was therefore taken into custody arrest for the crime of mistreatment in the family. The man, by order of the magistrate on duty, was then transferred to the Ragusa prison at the disposal of the Iblea Judicial Authority.
