Ragusa: Carabinieri arrest two people red-handed for possession of cocaine, ammunition and instruments capable of causing harm
A 24-year-old Gambian, homeless, with specific police records, and a 58-year-old Albanian, unemployed, with a clean criminal record were arrested.
Ragusa: Carabinieri arrest two people red-handed for possession of cocaine, ammunition and instruments capable of causing harm.
The Carabinieri of the Operational Section of the NOR of the Ragusa Company, during targeted services aimed at countering the sale of in the historic center, arrested, in flagrante delicto, for the crime of possession for the purpose of dealing in narcotics, a 24-year-old Gambian, of no fixed abode, with specific police records, and a 58-year-old Albanian, unemployed, with no criminal record.
The two were identified inside the Albanian's car and, due to their suspicious attitude and the threat made by the Gambian to the soldiers operating with a brass knuckle, they were subjected to a personal search on the spot which allowed them to find 100 grams of cocaine and a large sum of money (4.000 euros) deemed profit from the illicit activity conducted by the aforementioned.
The subsequent house searches of the two subjects made it possible to find and seize further items 20 grams of cocaine, 25 cal. cartridges 12 illegally detained, two precision scales and material for packaging the narcotic towards the Albanian, while a further sum consisting of small denomination banknotes, also believed to be pertinent to the criminal activity, was found in the Gambian's possession.
By order of the Public Prosecutor on duty at the Ragusa Court, the Albanian was placed under house arrest while the Gambian was transferred to the Ragusa prison.
The outcome of the activity constitutes a further response, after the operations conducted last April and May which had led to the execution of numerous precautionary measures, by the Carabinieri of the Provincial Command of Ragusa to the requests of citizens who in recent months have turned to the Authorities to report episodes of drug dealing in the streets of the historic center.
