Modica: the robbers of the Ispica tobacco shop in prison.

The Carabinieri of the Operational and Radiomobile Unit of the Modica Company, collaborated by personnel of the Carabinieri Company of Tuscania (VT), have executed three precautionary custody orders in prison against as many subjects, perpetrators of the robbery which occurred last April against of a well-known tobacconist in the city of Ispica.

Immediately after the facts, a specific investigative activity was started, starting from the technical surveys carried out at the business by specialized personnel, in order to search for fingerprints and elements useful for the identification of the perpetrators of the criminal action, up to the acquisition of witness statements.

At the same time, we proceeded to view the videos of the various video surveillance systems that exist in the municipal area, which made it possible to ascertain the fact that the robbers had used a specific car to carry out the robbery, whose license plate had been clumsily altered through the use of adhesive tape. The photographic reconnaissance of the various video surveillance systems carried out by the military made it possible to identify, thanks to the knowledge of the territory and the subjects of operational interest that gravitate there, an essential detail of the vehicle, namely the use of the so-called "tire wheel", which made it unmistakable the correspondence of the car with its user.

Acting with this “modus operandi”, the military were able to reconstruct the exact dynamics of the robbery, both in relation to the phases preceding and following the criminal action. The investigations continued with the ascertainment of other elements, as during the investigations they reached the place where the clothes used by the robbers had been abandoned, precisely a rocky area in the municipality of Ispica, where drug users often meet.

The results were also obtained thanks to the technical activities started by the proceeding Department, which allowed to crystallize the position of another individual, female, who participated in the robbery as a lookout and, at the same time, promoter of the criminal action. Today's measures, submitted to the Judicial Authority by the Operational and Radiomobile Unit of the Modica Company, were fully accepted by the Public Prosecutor's Office of Ragusa, as the elements acquired during the investigations left no doubts regarding the responsibility of the perpetrators of the robbery.

The operation, called "Lightning", demonstrated the ability of the Army to reconstruct in a short period of time the dynamics of an event that had strongly undermined the serenity and public order of the Ispicese community, as well as interfering with the of the daily activities of the various commercial establishments.
