Modica: resistance to a public official by a young foreigner, under house arrest.

The military personnel of the Operational and Radiomobile Unit of the Modica Company, during the performance of an ordinary patrol service on the territory of the jurisdiction, at the request of the Operations Centre and following a report by an employee of a well-known bar in Modica Bassa, intervened to contain and limit the state of psychophysical agitation of a young foreigner.

Once on site, the operators became aware of the particular emotional state of the interested party, for which they implemented all the appropriate procedures to be implemented during interventions with subjects in a state of emotional alteration.

The request for help had arrived at the Modica headquarters due to the threats that the young man had made to the employee of the restaurant and to the customers, concretely undermining the safety of those present.

In addition to this prevaricating attitude, the young man persevered in his violent conduct by shaking a glass bottle in his hands with which he threatened the vehicles that were passing along the city artery. When asked for his personal details, the young man, a 23-year-old Tunisian, unmarried and unemployed, responded to the operators with pushes and death threats.

The intervention of colleagues from the Modica police station was providential and, contributing profitably to the management of the subject of operational interest, provided the necessary support to stop the young man and bring the situation back to calm, guaranteeing the safety of the city centre.

The young man's agitated soul and his violent response did not calm down with these episodes, but continued in the moments following the arrest, but was skillfully contained by all the soldiers operating, who guaranteed, first and foremost, the protection of safety of the interested party.

After informing the Public Prosecutor's Office of Ragusa, the individual was arrested for resisting a public official and taken to his home under house arrest.

It should be underlined, on such occasions, the appropriate ability of evaluation of the operating soldiers who, having among the principles of their work the establishment of a constructive dialogue with the subject experiencing a situation of emotional crisis, have obtained the best result possible by intervening with due caution.
