Modica. One arrest and two reports for possession of cocaine, hashish and mannitol.

Tight controls by the soldiers of the Carabinieri Company of Modica in the municipality of Scicli in view of the start of the spring season.

The impressive service saw the participation of the soldiers of the Operational and Radiomobile Unit, of the Scicli Tenenza and of the Donnalucata Station who, supported in a profitable manner by plainclothes personnel, carried out a series of checks with general preventive purposes and, above all, of repression of the rampant phenomenon of drug trafficking among young people.

The service, made up of 5 patrols and 10 soldiers, was concentrated in the city center and in the surrounding streets, along which drug dealers often find their escape route.

During the Judicial Police activity, the operators identified around 30 people, many of whom were known to the military given their numerous criminal records, and carried out several personal searches, as well as checked over 20 vehicles. The wide-ranging service ended with two reports to the Prefecture of Ragusa for violation of drug legislation, as many reports to the Higher Command for subjects of operational interest and an arrest for the simultaneous seizure of 3 grams of cocaine, 13 grams of hashish and 25 grams of mannitol, a useful substance for cutting and packaging cocaine, as well as a precision scale and considerable material suitable for packaging. Numerous checkpoints were also carried out in the device in order to monitor compliance with the Highway Code.

The checks will intensify even more over the next few weeks, in order to allow citizens the right to enjoy the beauties of their city without worrying about their own safety.
