Comiso: Drug dealing and resisting a public official, arrested

The controls of the territory of the Provincial Command of the Carabinieri of Ragusa continue without stopping, with preventive activities and contrast to illicit conduct in the matter of narcotics.

In particular, the military personnel of the Carabinieri Station of Comiso, while carrying out a targeted service aimed at combating drug dealing and trafficking, while passing through an urban square, they proceeded to check a young Gambian.

During the police activity, the young man began to show nervousness at the checkpoint until he began to struggle and then violently push and hit the operating military personnel, thus earning his escape. During the chase the Carabinieri saw the man get rid of an aluminum foil wrapper that was promptly recovered.

The military with no small difficulty they managed to reach the young man and stop him and then subject him to a check on the spot where they found, hidden on his person, a narcotic substance of the marijuana type and the total sum of approximately 100 euros; the military then discovered that the aluminum package also contained another narcotic substance of the hashish type.

The drugs and banknotes found were seized and the young man was taken to the offices of the Carabinieri Station in Comiso for full identification.

From the elements acquired, and taking into account the methods of possession and packaging of the various narcotic substances, the hypothesis of personal use was excluded, therefore the Carabinieri proceeded to report the person under arrest to the Judicial Authority for the crime of illicit possession of narcotic substances for the purpose of dealing and resisting a public official for the violence committed against the operating military personnel.

Once the formal procedures were completed, the soldiers then accompanied the Gambian to his home at the disposal of the Judicial Authority pending a direct trial for the validation of the precautionary measure applied.

Following a direct trial, the Judicial Authority shared the restrictive measure applied by the Carabinieri, validating the arrest.
