Un 22 year old Tunisian was trying to escape on board a scooter just stolen in the center of Ragusa and was headed towards the Vittoriese. However, his plans were thwarted by the timely intervention of a Carabinieri patrol engaged in an anti-robbery prevention service, which stopped him.

The Carabinieri of Ragusa arrested the young man who, during the afternoon, had gone to Ragusa with the intention of returning home with a new scooter. He is a 22-year-old Tunisian, resident in Acate, who was forcing the ignition lock to steal the scooter. Furthermore, to avoid identification through the cameras, he had applied black tape to the license plate to make it illegible.

Just at that moment the soldiers were patrolling the area and were attracted by the strange behaviour of the boy who had got on the scooter and was running away without wearing a helmet.

The 22-year-old was being monitored by the Carabinieri so as not to compromise the safety of other road users. The military, therefore, patiently waited for the most opportune moment to stop him. It was stopped at a petrol station where the criminal needed to refuel.

It was taken in arrest for the crime of Theft aggravated and subjected to a search. The screwdriver used to damage the ignition switch of the scooter was found. Finally, the Carabinieri returned the scooter to its rightful owner.

The 22-year-old Tunisian was subjected to arrest, available to the Iblea judicial authority who will evaluate the position.
