Gussola: Fraud against a company, 53-year-old repeat offender reported

At the end of an investigation, the Carabinieri of the Gussola Station They have named the alleged perpetrator of a scam committed in August 2023 at a local company. This is a 53-year-old man, resident outside the region and with a specific police record for similar facts. The soldiers of Gussola at the end of August 2023 had received the Fraud Report by a Business Owner who had explained that he had entrusted the transport of goods produced in his company to a transport company that was supposed to collect the products with a truck and driver selected by them.

They had agreed on the day and time of collection of the load, in Casalmaggiore where there is an operational headquarters, and on the time and day of delivery, in a location outside the region. These arrangements had been made through an exchange of emails with the transport company through an email address that the client company had already used in the past. He had not received an immediate response to his work order, but the following morning, as agreed, at the Casalmaggiore loading point a driver showed up who said he had been sent to carry out that transport, presenting all the details of the transport to the company's employees.

So, the employees of the client company had not suspected anything, had acquired the license plate of the heavy vehicle and the personal data of the truck driver, then had proceeded to load the truck which had left the loading point. The company in question later learned that the cargo had never arrived at its destination and, consequently, that the vehicle that had been used and the driver were not the same company that had commissioned the transport.

After the complaint, the Gussola military began the investigations, acquiring the images that captured the truck from the moment it entered the company, managing to acquire the license plate of the vehicle and the face of the driver. And they had discovered that the vehicle had been used in many other locations in northern Italy to commit similar scams. Through an exchange of information, they then learned from the Carabinieri of the province of Bologna that two similar incidents had occurred in that area and that the Emilian military had identified and reported the driver of the truck that had committed those scams.

Even in those two circumstances, the images from the cameras of the defrauded companies had been acquired and, by comparing the frames that portrayed that truck driver, it was possible to verify that the driver held responsible for the events in the province of Bologna was the same driver who had shown up in Casalmaggiore to collect the goods. For this reason, the 53-year-old was reported to the Judicial Authorities for fraud.
