Cremona, State Police saves the life of a 50-year-old man suffering from cardiac arrest
In the morning, The Cremona State Police, following a first response activity, saved the life of a 50-year-old citizen of Cremona, who suffered a cardiac arrest in a street in the city center.
This morning, a brilliant public rescue operation was carried out by a patrol of the Cremona Flying Squad, engaged in routine territorial control activities.
The officers were patrolling the city centre when they suddenly noticed a passerby calling them and pointing to a man lying unconscious on the ground.
Having assessed the very serious situation of the man, from whom there was no heartbeat, the officers immediately alerted the emergency services via the Operations Room. However, unable to wait for their arrival, the first operator immediately began to perform cardiac massage on the man, while the second operator prepared the defibrillator, which was inside the patrol car.
Having determined that cardiac massage would not be sufficient to restart the heartbeat, the officers administered a defibrillator shock. While waiting for the ambulance to arrive on the scene, the operators continued to perform cardiac massage on the man for over 5 minutes, who finally regained consciousness and was placed in the recovery position. At the end of the intervention, the rescued citizen was taken in charge by the paramedics and transported to the emergency room with a yellow code.
The tests carried out by the doctors on site have ascertained that, without the timely and impeccable intervention of the young officers of the Police Headquarters, the man would not have survived until the arrival of the ambulance.
