Casalmaggiore: scams via the web, the carabinieri report two people.

I Carabinieri of the Casalmaggiore Station they reported a man from 58 years and a woman of 19 years, residents in the province of Crotone, considered responsible for a scam committed via the web.

In mid-July, the military had received a complaint from the victim, who had said she had seen a moped for sale on some social pages at the price of 1.800 €, including shipping costs. Finding the offer interesting, he decided to buy it.

After contacting the seller by message and then by phone, the parties had defined the terms of the agreement. The alleged seller had requested the sending of a copy of the victim's documents and had assured that the moped would be delivered to the home within a short time, upon payment of a deposit of 850 euros on an IBAN provided by the scammer himself.

Once the money was received, the seller promised to ship the moped, but the victim did not receive any shipping code, despite his repeated requests. He also tried to obtain photos and documents of the moped, without success. When he tried to contact the seller again for clarification, he received no response.

Having understood that he had been scammed, the victim turned to the Carabinieri of Casalmaggiore, filing a complaint. Thanks to the investigations, the military were able to identify and report the man and the woman, the owners of the telephone number used for the contact and the IBAN on which the transfer had been made.

The episode highlights the importance of being careful when shopping online and always checking the reliability of ads.
