Cream: must serve one final conviction for circumvention of an incapacitated person, woman arrested by the Carabinieri.

On the afternoon of 5 April, the Carabinieri of the Crema station arrested, in execution of a sentence execution order issued by the Criminal Enforcement Office at the Court of Cremona, a 52-year-old woman with a criminal conviction.

The woman recipient of the provision will have to serve one three years' prison sentence relating to the sentence passed at the Court of Cremona in 2022, confirmed in the Court of Appeal in 2023, which became definitive and executory, for circumvention of an incapacitated person, a crime committed from 2014 to 2019.

In 2019, a man showed up at the Carabinieri station in Crema who reported that he had hired a housemaid to assist his grandfather, who was no longer self-sufficient. Then, he noticed character change of the relative and he understood that something was wrong.

By checking the bank statements of grandfather's bank deposits, had discovered that the man, on several occasions, had withdrawn a total sum of many tens of thousands of euros in cash, he had bought the housekeeper a car and had sold jewelery and precious objects, but it was not known what happened to the money obtained.

Subsequent investigations allowed the Carabinieri to understand that the man had been tricked by the maid, who asked for and obtained money from the elderly victim for every need. And all this had gone on for years, until the nephew discovered what had happened.

In 2022 the sentence was handed down by the Court of Cremona for the facts committed and ascertained. In 2023 the Court of Appeal of Brescia confirmed the sentence, which became final in the same year. The Public Prosecutor's Office at the Court of Cremona has now issued the detention order for the relevant sentence to be served, transmitting the provision to the Carabinieri of the Crema station who tracked down the 52-year-old, accompanying her to the prison in Brescia Verziano.
