Crema, attempted suicide on the bridge of via Crispi: a young woman saved
The operations room of the State Police Station of Crema received a call, from which it emerged that a girl had called 112 threatening to throw herself off the bridge on via Crispi on the Cresmiero canal. Immediately after uttering these words the girl hung up the phone and made herself unreachable. The police station operations room immediately sent out its own patrol crew. As soon as they arrived on site, the operators noticed a young girl in the central part of the bridge sitting on the balustrade with her legs dangling in the air, at a height of 15/20 metres from the river below.
At the sight of the operators the girl exclaimed: "I don't know what I called for! Leave me alone because I want to commit suicide! If you come any closer I swear I'll throw myself down!". To prevent the girl from carrying out the threatened actor the patrol car operators initially kept their distance from it, trying to start a conversation with it. In the meantime, 118 was also activated.
Once the conversation had started, during which the girl was talking about her family problems, the operators slowly approached her and, once they were within a short distance, with a sudden movement they managed to surround her, blocking her at the height of the pelvis. The woman began screaming incoherent phrases and resisted in an attempt to free herself from his grip. After more than a minute, despite the woman's resistance and her attempts to hit the operators, they managed to get her safely to the ground by moving her away from the bridge's balustrade.. Once calm was restored and the 118 ambulance arrived, the young woman was taken to the local hospital without any particular injuries.
