Arezzo, an All Star Game for the Meyer Foundation
Councilor Scapecchi: “Sport and solidarity, a winning combination”
Arezzo, an All Star Game for the Meyer Foundation.
A beautiful sport-entertainment and solidarity event. It will be played Friday 15 April at 21pm at the "Mario d'Agata" sports hall, the "Charity match for the Meyer Foundation", a basketball match in the "NBA All Star Game" style organized by the CSI Arezzo with the patronage and contribution of City of Arezzo to raise funds for the Florentine pediatric hospital.
“An event not to be missed, first of all for the generous purpose for which it was promoted and which I am sure will have the response it deserves from the city, but also for the opportunity it offers to attend a singular event of sport, music and entertainment”, commented the sports councilor Federico Scapecchi.
The event is organized with the support of the “Villa Severi Pheasants”, an unrecognized group of young basketball amateurs who have been organizing charity basketball games/shows since 2019. In addition to the competition, these meetings offer theperformance by a dance troupe accompanied by a DJ and with the audio effects of American arenas, led by a speaker and with an organized support team equipped with drums to act as chants during the match.
The interviews
“It is our intention to encourage basketball culture by bringing to the city a sporting style typical of American NBA tournaments: the aim is to promote sport and inclusiveness by offering all those who wish a more particular way of approaching basketball", has explained Giosuè Cabitta of “Villa Severi Phaesants. “We start from here to reach our goal which is to create a real tournament divided into categories, a "social" event", a real celebration for the city that combines sport, music, food and much more."
“It is among the main tasks of a sports promotion body to become an instrument for valorising what the territory offers. Friday's initiative unites young people, sport, inclusion, solidarity, and the CSI could not miss it", said Lorenzo Bernardini, president of the CSI Arezzo.
Entry is free and the total proceeds will be donated to Meyer Foundation. The initiative will also be supported by the collaboration of the Farrago association, the Centro Giovani Onda d'urto and the Centro Giovani New Factory through the diffusion of the event on their social channels in addition to the collaboration of the ASD Basket Arezzo and the Societa Sportiva Arezzo.
