Arezzo, 50.00 meals for the cats of the municipal shelter

Giovanna Carlettini: “The Easter egg gives cats 50.000 meals"

Arezzo, 50.00 meals for the cats of the municipal shelter.

“We are consolidating an important rhythm, marked by the festive periods par excellence of our calendar, Christmas and Easter. But not only that: I also remember the food distribution that took place last summer. Therefore, in December under the tree and in April inside the egg the cats of the cat colonies find a quantity of food equal to 50.000 meals. And it is the fourth time they have benefited from it." Thus councilor Giovanna Carlettini announces the initiative which will once again involve the municipal kennel: there, over the next few days, the keepers of the cat colonies, adequately notified, will be able to collect the food purchased by the municipal administration in quantities proportional to the cats registered.

The words of councilor Giovanna Carlettini

“We remain consistent – continued Carlettini – with the intent stated at the beginning of the mandate: guarantee the rights and well-being of animals. With this in mind, we first created a specific team made up of two municipal police officers who continue their excellent work against abuse and abandonment. Secondly, I remember the historic collaboration with Enpa, the manager of the municipal kennel".

“This is where it has also stood since last July the hospital room where cats are cared for before and after sterilization. An environment that works very well, useful for public hygiene needs, with adequate cages where the animals are kept for one or two days, until they are healthy, have not reabsorbed the anesthetic and can return to the caretakers of the colonies. Thirdly, I want to mention the equally fruitful collaboration established with Oipa, also following the renewal of the agreement that regulates the activities that recognized zookeepers carry out for the Municipality".

"The volunteers of the non-profit organization periodically visit the cat colonies to check their 'state of health' and consistency or to ascertain all the needs of the keepers and monitor the area for reclamation, placing danger signs when poisoned morsels are found."

Next step, the renewal of the concession for the kennel. “We think – concluded the councilor – of including in the public notice scheduled for 2023, thecommitment for the future manager to expand the spectrum of veterinary care services that we already guarantee for the cats of the colonies, to offer them maximum well-being in every aspect".
