Campobasso, “SPONC!”: the project for inclusion and socialization.

With an evening full of fun wide participation and socialization and a fun dodge ball tournament, at PalaUnimol in Campobasso The event marking the transition from the first to the second operational phase of the project took place on Wednesday 13 July national project SPONS! - Unconventional sport for everyone – carried out by CUS Molise.

The event is organized with the patronage of the Municipality of Campobasso and the involvement of the Social Territorial Area of Campobasso, of the Sirio Social Cooperative, of the “Giorgio Palmieri” and “Peter Pan” Unified Socio-Educational Centers of Campobasso, of the SPRAR of Campobasso “Stesso Cielo” and the Uninursing Association.

The “SPONC!” project

SPONS! — Unconventional sport for everyone — is a project to promote sports practice as an educational socialization and integration activity aimed primarily at young people, with particular attention to the involvement of inactive, disabled and immigrant young people. The project is conceived and implemented by CUSI - Italian Sports University Center - and created with the contribution of the Department for Sport.

In the first phase of the project which is still in progress, 25 territorial projects of non-conventional sports of the CUS were collected, selected and launched, approximately one per region, and among these obviously also the CUS Molise, to guarantee a homogeneous diffusion across the entire national territory, indicating timing, types of sports that can be activated, recipients, technical resources available and economic resources to be used.

The project particularly promotes unconventional and non-competitive sports, with a highly innovative content and high accessibility for the identified target audiences. Some of these sports are also accessible to recipients with disability, others will be adapted to ensure absolute inclusiveness of the proposal. Sports activities are offered outdoors and in public spaces such as squares and parks identified together with the relevant local authorities, involved thanks to the active collaboration of ANCI Comunicare.

Three different phases

In the implementation of the SPONC! Cus Molise worked to create different and adaptable activities for all those who were involved in these days of sport and inclusion, through innovative and unconventional activities.

The project takes place following three different phases. In the first phase, the one aimed at the over 65s, activities such as green basketball and the fitness garden were practiced, while in the second phase we have already begun to involve people with disabilities with four days dedicated to green basketball, fitness garden, table football mixed and street games. In the third, which will develop in the next few months, mixed volleyball and street games will be favored with high school students, university students, immigrants, over 65s and disabled people on the field.

The words of the Councilor for Sports Activities Luca Praitano

“The city of Campobasso is experiencing a season of great attention to sporting issues. – declared the councilor for Sports Activities, Luca Praitano – In fact, There are many disciplines in which local clubs and their athletes are achieving results of national importance. In addition to being a source of pride for our territory and generating opportunities to experience euphoric moments of entertainment, all this evidently also fuels strong promotion of sport.

“It is in this context that the municipal administration fits in with the aim of relaunching and encouraging the involvement of young people, in particular, both by organizing initiatives or supporting those promoted by the Federations and clubs, and by recovering sports facilities in a state of abandonment. Furthermore, - added Praitano - it is equally important to weave dense networks of relationships with those who animate the world of sport, so that the interventions are as competent and shared as possible, but above all they generate the conditions for collaborations, also regarding the management of city facilities".

Campobasso, "SPONC!": il progetto per inclusione e socializzazioneleisure

“The Municipality of Campobasso – concludes Praitano – has various agreements in place with private entities that go precisely in this direction and is in synergy with the CUS Molise which has been working for some time to further improve the sporting offer. We need to relaunch physical activity in schools, starting from nursery schools, without losing sight of the implementation of equipment in neighborhood playgrounds, not only to encourage as many children to prefer movement and play to the virtual world, too permeating their lives today, but also for the fundamental aggregative and social function".
