Via Capo Passero: he runs away on the roofs and then hides the drugs, but the Carabinieri were waiting for him, a 33-year-old pusher arrested.

The Provincial Command of the Carabinieri of Catania continues its incessant battle against drug trafficking, a phenomenon that feeds the coffers of organized crime and undermines the safety of our community.

As part of this activity, the Fontanarossa Carabinieri Operations Unit successfully conducted an operation that led to the arrest of a 33-year-old from Catania, already known to the police for previous drug-related offences, for possession and dealing of narcotics.

In particular, during a targeted control operation in the “San Giovanni Galermo” neighborhood, the Carabinieri once again demonstrated their professionalism and operational capacity, planning the strategy that involved the use of two coordinated teams. A first team, in fact, positioned itself outside the suspicious building, near the porticoes under which the military had guessed that the pusher was operating, while a second team monitored the parking lot behind the homes.

This organization in two teams allowed them to act with maximum efficiency, and when the Carabinieri, positioned so as not to be seen, spotted the 33-year-old handing over the drugs and pocketing a banknote, they intervened.
The man, realizing he had been “caught,” managed to take the ramp of the condominium stairs and then escape by jumping on the roofs of the buildings, all close to each other, until he returned to the street, in the parking area, unaware that other Carabinieri were stationed there. Convinced he had gotten away with it, the 33-year-old hid an envelope near a low wall behind a truck, but was promptly reached and stopped by the second team, who also recovered what he had hidden.

In the bag, investigators found 23 doses of marijuana, weighing approximately 30 grams. The operation ended with the arrest of the man, validated by the Judicial Authority, while the seized narcotic substance will be subjected to analysis at the competent laboratory to determine its quantitative and qualitative characteristics.
