Raddusa: Out Spending Counterfeit Money, 3 Men Reported by the Carabinieri
It is thanks to careful information-investigative activity that the Carabinieri of the Raddusa Station have reported three men aged 28, 38 and 54, all from Palagonia and with previous judicial vicissitudes, because they are considered responsible for spending counterfeit money, on the basis of the evidence collected to be verified in any case in court.
The alarm, in fact, had already been issued by the operations centre of the Carabinieri Company of Palagonia to all the stations in its territory because in particular three men, in that area on board a Renault Clio, they had attempted to pass off counterfeit 50,00 euro notes to some unsuspecting shopkeepers.
The response of all the patrols operating in the Palagonese area and in the surrounding towns was immediate until, around 17.30 pm, the military personnel of the Raddusa station, contacting the local traders, learned of the itinerant presence of the Renault Clio and of the attempt by a man, in one case successful at the expense of a bar, to buy products costing a few euros in exchange for the transfer of a 50,00 euro note.
The Carabinieri search for the reported car was therefore frantic, until it was located in via Pietro Mascagni, while it was stopped with two men on board near a supermarket. At this point the Carabinieri, positioned in a secluded position, waited for the third man to arrive, who arrived shortly after, then went into action, blocking the trio and immediately checking the latter, finding in fact in a pocket of his jeans a 50,00 euro note, which was likely counterfeit.
The next search on board the car and to the other two men, both with specific criminal record, also allowed the military to find inside the glove compartment an envelope, inside which were contained another 16 banknotes of the same denomination, the authenticity of which was objectively questioned by the consistency of the paper, naturally everything was seized.
