Palagonia: He thought he could get away with it, but the Carabinieri found 1 kg of cocaine and arrested him

I Carabinieri of the Operational Nucleus of the Palagonia Company together with their colleagues of the Helicopter Squadron Hunters of Sicily, have arrested red-handed un 57 year old convicted felon of the place, responsible for the possession of narcotic substances for the purpose of shop.

Following a careful and meticulous investigative activity conducted by the military of the Arma, it emerged that the man, already with specific criminal records, had continued to deal drugs, becoming a reference point for the purchase of narcotics in the Palagonese area.

For this reason, after a long and detailed period of discreet remote observation of the 57-year-old's home, aimed at gathering all the useful information to plan the operation down to the smallest detail, the military of the Arma decided to start the blitz.

At 07:00 am, therefore, after having set up a cordon at the back of the house to prevent any escape attempts, the Carabinieri broke into the building.

Having seen the man, he was immediately asked some questions regarding the possible possession of illegal substances, to which the 57-year-old firmly responded that he did not possess anything illegal.

However, his confidence began to waver when the Hunters and the military of the Operations Core headed towards a storage room attached to the house, with particular attention to some large containers for the collection of agricultural products.

The inspection, in fact, revealed the presence of numerous plastic bins, inside which the military found two blocks of cocaine, vacuum-packed, for a total weight of over 1 kg.

Continuing the search in a room used as a kitchen, located next to a stable, the Carabinieri officers found a precision electronic scale a vacuum machine and the material needed for packaging of doses intended for retail sale.

A hard blow to drug trafficking, considering that the retail sale of the substance would have brought in between 100.000 and 200.000 euros, sums stolen from the coffers of organised crime.

The man was then arrested and the measure validated by the Judicial Authority, which ordered the 57-year-old to be held house arrest with the application of the electronic bracelet.
