Maintenance in Catania, the restyling work of Piazza Santa Maria di Gesù begins.

The redevelopment work has begun on Piazza Santa Maria di Gesù, in the part overlooking Via Androne and Via Lago di Nicito which has been in a state of decay for several years and with the monumental fountain not functioning.

The interventions promoted by the administration of Mayor Trantino are carried out by the maintenance department headed by Giovanni Petralia, who has allocated 77 thousand euros to restore decorum to one of the symbolic spaces of the city, where Lake Nicito once stood, dried up by the lava eruption of 1669.

The works, which will last approximately two months, consist of refunctionalization of the fountain turned off due to internal faults in the circulating water outlet nozzles and a general condition of wear and tear of the building, dating back to the 60s.

Important restoration and regeneration interventions will also be carried out in the large flowerbeds with magnolia trees which have damaged the landscape in several places. perimeter, with particular attention to the care of the green spaces which will be completely redone.
