Gravina di Catania: 49-year-old repeat offender stalks his ex-wife again, arrested

They had been separated for some time now, but he, a 49enne of Misterbianco, could not accept the end of their marriage and sought every opportunity to meet his ex, 50enne of Gravina di Catania, in an attempt to convince her to get back together. For such conduct, in 2018 he had been convicted of stalking and he seemed to have “understood the lesson”, so much so that the woman had decided to re-establish a peaceful relationship with him, also to allow him to see their 3 children regularly, even allowing him to go to her house to meet them.

However, the lady's trust was not repaid with the same loyalty, because the ex-husband probably thought he could do "whatever he wanted", and so for five months he had started sending her numerous messages again, calling her and following her, making her fall back into the nightmare of persecution.

The straw that broke the camel's back fell the other afternoon, when the 49-year-old, who had arrived in the hallway of the woman's home in Gravina di Catania to spend some time with the children, literally "jumped on her", putting her with her back to the wall and trying to kiss her against her will. The intervention of some residents, attracted by the victim's screams, allowed the Carabinieri of the Gravina di Catania Radiomobile Section to intervene quickly and catch him while he was still trying to hug her and convince her to come back with him.

The soldiers, after having blocked him and secured him, listened to the lady who, reassured by the presence of the patrol, told what, in the last few months, her ex-husband had made her go through, such as when he would arbitrarily show up at home and, since the door was not opened for him, he allegedly kicked and punched her, shouting offensive phrases towards the lady.

Based on the previous criminal acts for which the man had already been convicted, the repeated harassing conduct towards the woman and the latest episode of attempted violence which the Carabinieri also witnessed, the 49-year-old was arrested and, by order of the Judicial Authority, which validated his arrest, he was placed under house arrest at Misterbianco's home.
