Catania: San Cristoforo, the Carabinieri discover drug stashes along the road, 20 doses of cocaine seized

I Carabinieri of the Operational Unit of Piazza Dante, with the help of colleagues from the Nicolosi Dog Unit, have put in place a complex service of broad-based prevention, organized on 2 devices, the first dedicated to the capillary control of the most famous streets and squares of the historic district, the second instead intended for the searches at places and buildings potentially "used" for drug dealing areas.

In this regard, right along Via Forlanini the Carabinieri have brought to their attention a small abandoned building, near which the drug dog stopped and began to sniff insistently.

The dog handlers' nose was right because, although the building was not inhabited, it was used by drug dealers as a drug hideout.

Within the mailbox, in fact, the investigators of the Arma have discovered the first 10 doses of cocaine and then, in the compartment dedicated to housing the water meter, 10 more doses, for a weight of more than 300 grams.

The seized drugs have taken money from the criminals' coffers approximately EUR 27.000, dealing a severe blow to the profits of illicit drug trafficking.

The Carabinieri operation helped to counter the economy of organized crime, stealing essential resources for illicit activities.

As a corollary to the significant results achieved by theCatania's Weapon, traffic control activities were also carried out to combat undisciplined driving behaviour that can create a danger for motorists and pedestrians.

The crews thus stopped a dozen vehicles and identified 30 Guests, raising a dozen administrative penalties, especially towards the motorists caught driving with cell phone in hand.
