Catania: Carabinieri against illegal work and undisciplined driving.
As part of the activities aimed at preventing any form of widespread illegality, the Provincial Carabinieri Command of Catania has arranged an extraordinary control plan throughout the Etna area, with the aim of increasing the levels of real and perceived security by citizens.
In this context, joint services were arranged between the territorial force and the Labor Inspectorate Unit, with the assistance of the Operational Intervention Company (CIO) of the 12th “Sicilia” Battalion, in order to ascertain the safety conditions of employees in the workplace and, in particular, checks were carried out inside a restaurant located in the city center.
Inside the commercial activity the Carabinieri have found 2 "illegal" workers who had not even been subjected to health surveillance, or the set of health checks that are carried out by a competent doctor within the company, in order to ascertain the absence of contraindications to work and prevent the onset of occupational diseases.
For this omission, a complaint to the Judicial Authority is expected and, in fact, the military has The owner, a 50-year-old from Catania, was released on bail.
As far as illegal workers are concerned, however, the man was administratively fined €8.400, and the business has been suspended until the entrepreneur regularly hires employees.
As part of the checks on compliance with the Highway Code, however, the Carabinieri sanctioned those dangerous driving behaviors that jeopardize the safety of all road users and, in this sense, proceeded to check 27 vehicles and 72 people , they elevated fines of around €4500, seizing 5 cars because they did not have the required insurance coverage.
In this context, a 31-year-old from Catania was also reported because, in order to avoid the fine, since he was caught driving while talking on his cell phone, he gave the military false personal details. The Carabinieri, however, were able to trace his true identity anyway, so in addition to the fine for violating the highway code, he will have to face criminal proceedings.
