Catania: He hid drugs in the basement, 26-year-old arrested

The prevention and repression activities of crimes related to drug dealing carried out by the military of the Catania Arma, aimed at countering one of the major sources of supply for organized crime, do not stop. In this context, the Carabinieri of the Biancavilla Station, supported by their colleagues from the Nicolosi Dog Unit, they carried out a series of targeted information-investigative actions, which led to the arrest of a 26-year-old Biancavilla resident for possession of narcotics for the purpose of dealing.

In particular, during patrol services in the city centre, the investigators had seen the young man in a "suspicious" attitude several times since, on several occasions, at the sight of the patrol he moved away quickly, as if he wanted to avoid any possible checks by them. For these reasons, they decided to pay more attention to his movements.

Therefore, "discreet and remote" shadowing and flattening devices were organized, which confirmed that the man's presence, especially during the night hours, in the Biancavilla nightlife area had something to do with drug dealing, so the intervention was planned at his home, located near the town hospital. The Carabinieri then launched a raid, also allowing the dog handlers' dog King into his apartment, and began searching every room.

The military immediately noticed that, At the sight of the animal, the man became extremely nervous and this supported their investigative hypotheses. In fact, as soon as he reached the flight of stairs leading to the upper floor of the house, King pointed out to his host a locker in the space under the stairs, where the Carabinieri found 35 doses of marijuana, weighing approximately 50 grams, €70 in small denomination banknotes and "the tools of the trade", that is, what a pusher needs to package drugs: a precision scale and numerous transparent plastic bags.

Then, the soldiers moved into the bedrooms and here too, inside a bedside table, they recovered 2 doses of marijuana while, in a kitchen cabinet, there were some inflorescences of that plant, not yet packaged. The drugs, the material needed to package them and the money were found, the young pusher was declared under arrest and made available to the Judicial Authority, which validated the act, while the narcotic was seized.
