Catania: he was dealing drugs while driving his Fiat Panda, 54-year-old Catanian arrested

As part of the strengthening of the territorial control services arranged by the Provincial Command of Catania throughout the Etna capital, also aimed at preventing and repressing crimes related to drugs, the main source of supply for organised crime, the Carabinieri of the Catania Investigative Unit have successfully completed yet another blow to the phenomenon of drug trafficking, this time in the populous “Picanello” district, drawing 54 year old from Catania arrested for "detention for the purposes of trafficking".

In particular, in the context of a delicate investigative information activity, the Carabinieri discovered that the pusher had set up a profitable drug trade through the technique of “door-to-door delivery". In fact, the man came contacted by their customers, he was packaging the narcotic which he kept in his apartment in the heart of the Picanello district, used as a drug warehouse, then he left, driving his own Fiat Panda in white color, to deliver the product to your home, disappearing at great speed into the alleys of the neighborhood.

Having clarified the drug dealer's modus operandi and acquired all the necessary information to prepare a targeted service, the military personnel of the Carabinieri have therefore decided to start a series of remote observation activities and in “discreet mode”.

The Investigative Unit teams were then positioned under the house and along the streets that the “courier” usually travelled, and they waited, of course, for the most propitious and effective moment to block him, thus preventing any possible escape.

In fact, the Carabinieri stationed there, after a few hours, saw the 54-year-old come out of the pedestrian door of his building, to approach his Fiat Panda that he usually used to make his deliveries. The investigators, at that point, certain that the man was going to make a delivery, decided to to intervene.

Surrounded and blocked, the pusher was immediately searched by the military, who found it in the pockets of his trousers 3 packages containing cocaine and 1 plastic bag for vacuum sealed containing several grams of marijuana.

Once the drug dealer was secured, a team of Carabinieri immediately extended the checks to his apartment where, in a room used as a laundry, they found a dark-coloured backpack on a shelf, inside which they found another sealed transparent plastic bag containing further 30 bags full of cocaine for a total weight of 30 grams e 30 bags with 280 grams of marijuana.

Inside the backpack, a precision digital scale, still dirty with narcotic substance.

All the drugs were seized while the pusher was placed at the disposal of the Judicial Authority which ordered the measure of the obligation to report to the Judicial Police.
