Catania: Condominium premises used for drug dealing, drug dealer arrested by the Carabinieri.
As part of the fight against drug-related crimes, the main source of supply for organized crime, carried out relentlessly by the military of the Catania Provincial Command, both in the Etna capital and in the province, the Carabinieri of the Operational Section of the Catania Fontanarossa Company have successfully completed an investigative activity, arresting in flagrante delicto a 20-year-old from Catania, with no criminal record, responsible for possession of narcotics for the purpose of dealing.
In fact, the investigations revealed that the young man had started a thriving drug dealing business which had, as its logistical base, a condominium premises, closed and protected thanks to the presence of a, located on the ground floor of a condominium on Viale San Teodoro, in the populous Librino neighbourhood.
Having therefore understood the pusher's modus operandi, the military immediately set up and carried out a discreet observation service near the building, during which they were able to actually record the constant coming and going of people at that place.
In particular, the Carabinieri found that whoever entered, after knocking on the regularly locked entrance door, was made to sit in that very room, from which he left after a few minutes, in a cautious manner.
Certain, therefore, that their investigative hypothesis was well-founded, that is, that a pusher was hiding inside, around 14.30 pm the soldiers broke into the little room, taking advantage of the fact that the door had been left open by two buyers who had just left.
The investigators' speed of action did not give the pusher, a 20-year-old from Catania, time to even move from the desk behind which he was sitting.
Once the young man was secured, the military of the Unit proceeded to search the premises, discovering a sophisticated video surveillance system that, via a monitor, transmitted images from 5 cameras that filmed the entire perimeter of the building and the internal staircase.
On the desk, the Carabinieri then recovered the "goods" for sale, namely 5 grams of marijuana, 3 of cocaine and the same amount of crack, a precision scale, the material needed to divide the drugs for retail sale and the sum of 85 euros, believed to be the proceeds of the drug dealing activity.
The 20-year-old was therefore placed at the disposal of the Judicial Authority who validated his arrest.
