Catania, caught stealing from a shop, attacks the saleswoman. Arrested by the Carabinieri

An afternoon of shopping at “zero cost”, this was the goal of a 56 year old woman from Catania, with a police record, who was arrested the other day by the Carabinieri of the Catania Radiomobile Unit, on the basis of the evidence collected to be verified in court, for “Rimproper bee".

In particular, around 17pm, the woman went to a large clothing store in the centre of Catania,  “armed” with scissors and, therefore, with the clear intent of removing the anti-theft device from the items that, certainly, she had no intention of paying for.

After walking around the multi-storey store, the woman began to choose several coats and sweaters and, little by little, she placed them on one arm, while in the other she held her bag. At a certain point, however, the woman took the scissors out of her pocket and, convinced that she was not being seen, she began to cut the labels, trying, with the tip of the tool, to remove the plastic anti-theft device, and then put the items back in her bag.

His "moves", however, did not escape the attention of the shop assistant who immediately called 112 to report the theft in progress, thus allowing the operations centre to "activate" a gazelle who was in the area for a patrol service aimed at preventing and repressing crimes, in particular predatory crimes such as thefts and robberies, and who therefore reached the commercial activity in a few minutes.

Meanwhile, the thief, with her loot hidden in her bag, continued to “loot” the goods until she attempted to gain the exit. Stopped by the saleswoman who had already seen the flashing lights of the Radiomobile through the shop windows, the 56-year-old did not give up and, in order to escape, used the scissors against the sales assistant, hitting her hands and arms. The Carabinieri, however, practically inside the shop, immediately intervened and stopped the woman, disarming her. 

The military of the Arma, having secured the criminal, immediately called the 118 doctors for the injured employee who, examined and treated, luckily got away with it with a prognosis of 3 days. Subsequently the crew of the "gazzella" he searched the thief's bag, recovered all the stolen items of clothing, worth several hundred euros

The thief was arrested and placed at the disposal of the Judicial Authority who validated the arrest and ordered her to be placed under house arrest.
