Catania: Caught in the act while dealing drugs, 20-year-old offender arrested

A brilliant activity, that of a Carabiniere released from service, collaborated by colleagues of the Operational Unit of the Catania Piazza Dante Company, which led to the arrest of a 20-year-old from Catania, with a criminal record for drug-related crimes, for possession and dealing of narcotic substances. The marshal in particular, on leave in Catania, was in via Firenze, right near the Catania Courthouse, when his attention was captured by the strange movements of the 20-year-old who, driving a Honda Sh scooter, stopped and immediately handed a small package to a young man who was waiting for him near a door.

The Carabinieri officer, thanks to his expert eye, immediately realized that it was a drug exchange. Without wasting a moment, the investigator called the Operations Center to request reinforcements, while continuing to tail the young suspect, who had already driven away on his scooter. Having arrived in via Vittorio Emanuele Orlando, the 20-year-old then stopped again for another delivery. It was the right time to intervene, and the Carabiniere on leave, without hesitation, prepared to act, determined to stop the drug dealing in its tracks.

In fact, The pusher then met a woman who, as she had probably done many other times before, without hesitation passed him a 20 euro note in exchange for a bag of marijuana. But this time, however, the marshal intervened quickly, grabbing the bag and identifying himself, leaving both surprised and momentarily confused.

The 20-year-old, however, abandoned the scooter and threw a bag under a parked car, then attempted to escape on foot. The soldier, however, without losing sight of him, he immediately retrieved his purse and started chasing her, going along via Gabriele D'Annunzio, Corso delle Province and via Milano.

The race, however, ended in Via Firenze where the criminal was reached and stopped by the non-commissioned officer of the Arma, thanks also to the arrival of his colleagues from the Operations Unit who cut him off and with whom he had remained in constant telephone contact.

The young man was stopped and placed in safety and immediately searched and, inside the bag, the Carabinieri found 38 doses of marijuana already packaged for retail sale, for a total weight of 130 grams, that the drug dealer would evidently soon give in, as well as the sum of 80,00 euros, considered to be proceeds of drug dealing activity. The young pusher was judged by the Judicial Authority with a direct trial and, therefore, subjected to the obligation to remain in residence in the municipality of Catania.
