Catania: Pusher caught on scooter with different types of drugs, arrested by Carabinieri.
As part of the ongoing fight against drug trafficking, the main source of supply for organized crime, the Carabinieri of the Operational Unit of the Catania Piazza Dante Company have arrested a 26-year-old from Catania for possession of narcotics for the purpose of dealing.
The blitz was triggered at the end of a targeted info-investigative activity, which pushed the military to concentrate their attention in the areas between Viale Mario Rapisardi and Via Giuseppe Fava. The information in fact related to a young man, already known for previous judicial cases related to drugs, who was used to frequently driving around those areas on a scooter, probably transporting drugs ready for sale.
Having obtained all the data necessary to intervene, the Carabinieri therefore prepared a meticulous action plan and organised a patrol service with several unmarked cars and in discreet mode, in the areas of interest, aimed at identifying and stopping the pusher.
The most propitious moment for investigators to intervene was in the afternoon around 16:00 pm when the young man was finally located on his scooter, near a tobacconist.
At the sight of the crew, who were quickly about to reach him, the 26-year-old tried to move away, but had no escape, he was immediately surrounded by the Carabinieri, blocked and secured.
During the inspection, the military personnel of the Unit clearly perceived a strong acrid odor, clearly attributable to marijuana, coming from the backpack he was carrying on his shoulders, a signal that further confirmed their investigative hypotheses.
Proceeding with the search, the Carabinieri found 43 doses of marijuana in the bag, for a total weight of approximately 300 grams.
Also found were 4 packages of “moonrock,” a brown substance with a consistency similar to small pebbles coated in concentrated cannabis resin, for a total weight of 27 grams; 4 packages of “dry,” a solid cannabis derivative weighing a total of 25 grams; and 1 package of “hashish mousse,” a soft variant of hashish, weighing 7 grams.
In addition to these substances, the man also had with him 7 e-cigarettes with a high THC content, each capable of delivering approximately 200 puffs.
All the drugs seized would have brought in around €5.000.
Along with the drugs, investigators also found €560 in cash, divided into banknotes of various denominations, presumably the proceeds of drug dealing.
The man was therefore arrested and placed at the disposal of the Judicial Authority of Catania who validated the provision by ordering him to be placed under house arrest.
