Catania: He attacks his partner with a universal pliers hitting her on the head and then trying to strangle her, 52-year-old arrested

A gazelle from the Catania Radiomobile Unit intervened at the home of a 54 year old of foreign origins, but resident in the city, who had just been attacked by her partner, a 52 year old of the place, criminal, who has been arrested for “mistreatment of family members”, “personal injury” and “threats”. To about, the Operations Centre received a call to the emergency number 112 from a condominium resident who, worried about the screams coming from his neighbour's house, decided to ask the Carabinieri for help. The alert allowed the patrol, activated by the Central operators, to reach the victim's apartment, located in Via Garibaldi, in a handful of minutes and to identify the companion who had locked himself in the bedroom.

The woman, visibly shaken and with visible injuries to her head and neck, as soon as she saw the Carabinieri she let herself go into a liberating cry, telling that for about two years, that is, since their cohabitation began, she allegedly suffered daily threats and aggression, both physical and verbal, from her partner, who would fly into a rage over every little disagreement. Shortly before, in fact, he had insulted and threatened her simply because he did not agree with her watching a cooking show on TV.

The woman, therefore, to avoid the situation from degenerating, had given him the remote control while going to the bathroom to take a shower, but he allegedly reached her, armed with a pair of 12-centimeter pliers, and hit her on the head with them. Despite the bleeding wound, the lady had managed to escape into the kitchen, where however he followed her, finally attempting to strangle her, until she, holding on to a piece of furniture, managed to free herself and lock herself in another room.

The victim was entrusted to the care of the 118 doctors, who took her to the emergency room of the San Marco hospital, The Carabinieri then reached the 52-year-old who tried to downplay the incident, saying it was a "simple" argument with his partner, but his version of events did not convince the crew who, moreover, found the house with clear signs of violence: broken furniture, objects and doors as well as traces of blood in the bathroom. The military personnel of the Arma, therefore, on the basis of the evidence collected to be verified in court, they arrested him and, by order of the Judicial Authority, which validated the arrest, they took him to prison.
