The contrast toillegality at work It is one of the central tasks of the Carabinieri, which in addition to the traditional control of the territory makes use of specialized departments such as the Labor Inspectorate Units (NIL). Precisely within the framework of a broader strategy for the prevention and repression of violations in the field of security and contracts, the Carabinieri Company of Randazzo, together with the staff ofTerritorial Labor Inspectorate of Catania, conducted a series of inspection activities in Bronte.

During the checks, one of the companies checked was found to be seriously irregular: the owner, a 51 year old local man, was referred to the Judicial Authority for omitted health surveillance of employees. A violation that concerns that set of protocols and medical visits essential to guarantee the worker safety, especially in the presence of specific professional and environmental risks.

Similar critical issues emerged in a second company in the area, where the owner, 48 years old, had not provided workers with the mandatory training on risks associated with the activity. During the inspection, the soldiers also found two employees illegal employees, which is why entrepreneurial activity has been suspended and the owner reported. Overall, the picture that emerged is alarming: four out of five companies they were found to be irregular and, out of eleven workers checked, seven were employed without a contract. A situation that highlights the persistence of phenomena of undeclared work and violations of safety regulations.

The operation led to the contestation of administrative sanctions for 20.050 euros, at the elevation of fines of 7.184 euros and Recovery of €8.000 in INPS/INAIL contributions unpaid. All employers who employed staff without regular employment were reported for the violations detected. The joint activity of the Carabinieri of Randazzo and the Labor Inspectorate confirms the constant commitment of the institutions in the fight against undeclared work, in the protection of the worker safety and in promoting legality within the local productive fabric.
