Biancavilla: Territory checks, fines of 14.000 euros
As part of the strengthening of the territorial control services arranged by the Provincial Command of the Carabinieri of Catania, the Carabinieri of the Biancavilla Station, with the support of their colleagues from the Operational Intervention Company (CIO) of the 12th "Sicilia" Regiment, they have intensified their surveillance activities to prevent any form of illegality and ensure compliance with the Highway Code.
Numerous checkpoints, both fixed and dynamic, have been set up along the main road sections of the town, with the use of breathalyzers to ascertain any cases of driving under the influence of alcohol.
The Carabinieri they reported a 29 year old to the Judicial Authorities who, stopped and subjected to a breathalyser test, had a blood alcohol level almost double the legal limit. Despite this, he was driving a Honda X-ADV motorbike, putting himself and other road users in serious danger.
A switchblade, instead, was discovered by the Carabinieri inside the car of a 21 year old, while, in the car of a 28 year old, a homemade knuckle duster was well hidden, built with a galvanized iron hydraulic pipe, to which some deadly iron rods had been welded, an improvised but potentially lethal weapon.
Furthermore, during the activity, during some checkpoints, the military personnel of the Arma surprised four young people, aged between 18 and 29, all with small quantities of marijuana and cocaine in their pockets who, of course, were reported to the Prefecture of Catania as drug users.
The patrols in the field checked everything in total 61 people and 28 vehicles, walking traffic fines of approximately €14.000, submitting 4 vehicles under administrative seizure for lack of required insurance coverage, driving with a cell phone, driving without a license.
