Belpasso: three minors caught with drugs, two reports and one alert
The control activities carried out by the Carabinieri of the Paternò Company aimed at the intensification of preventive services, arranged by the Provincial Command, are part of the plan combating drug use and dealing.
On this occasion, the Carabinieri of the Belpasso Station, supported by their colleagues from the CIO of the 12th “Sicilia” Regiment, in order to protect those citizens who, after work or school, gather in the town's meeting points for a bit of leisure, carried out targeted checks to ensure that those places were not also frequented by drug dealers.
In this context, the first target of the patrols was a car park located next to a kiosk in the city centre, where the Carabinieri spotted three 17 year olds and a 15 year old secluded in a dimly lit area of the parking lot. Specifically, 2 young people were on their scooters while a girl and the 15-year-old were on foot.
The cautious attitude of the group alerted the military personnel who decided to search them. The Carabinieri's suspicions were well founded, as they recovered the following from the pockets of the 17-year-old local boy: almost 5 grams of hashish sealed in an airtight bag. The other 17 year old, however, had hidden in his underwear not only 5 grams of hashish but also 3 grams of marijuana. The minor, then, had with him a pack of cigarettes in which he thought he could hide almost 200 €. Unfortunately, the 15 year old also had it in his pocket 1,25 grams of hashish, perhaps recently received from the two pushers who were slightly older than him.
The two 17 year olds were reported for possession of narcotics for the purpose of dealing, while the 15 year old was administratively reported. Only the girl, who was also properly searched by female personnel, did not have any drugs in her possession.
At the end of these investigations, the Carabinieri also proceeded to check compliance with the rules imposed by the Highway Code, to combat those driving behaviors that put at risk the safety of all road users, motorists and pedestrians.
To this end, various patrols, located in the areas of greatest transit, checked approximately 33 vehicles e 42 Guests, elevating 16 penalties to the Highway Code for driving while using a cell phone and without a seat belt, and seizing 8 vehicles for, lack of RCA insurance coverage. The total of the fines exceeded 12.000 €.
