Belpasso: 19-year-old repeat offender in possession of burglary tools, reported

The Carabinieri of the Nucleo Radiomobile reported a 19-year-old, already known to the police, for possession of altered keys or lock picks.

During a night patrol service, a patrol near the petrol station saw a young man who, finding himself in a secluded and dark area near several parked vehicles, at the sight of the soldiers he tried to walk away; immediately reached, stopped and identified, the boy explained to the crew of the Gazelle that he was there to meet a girl.

His nervous behavior and evasive answers, however, aroused the suspicions of the military who decided to investigate further but did not find anything suspicious or illegal during that check: once all the checks were completed, the young man was then removed.

Very little time passed when the patrol, during checks in the adjacent streets, noticed the boy again. This time he was running towards a distributor, clutching a fanny pack in his hands, a detail that immediately aroused the suspicion of the Carabinieri since he had not had one at the previous check.

The investigators decided to proceed with a further investigation, but the 19-year-old threw the fanny pack into a private garden before being stopped; the accessory was immediately recovered by the Carabinieri, revealing a key detail of the story.

Inside the handbag the Carabinieri found several suspicious objects, tincluding a dark blue neck warmer, an orange one, two modified steel lock picks, a 12mm chrome combination wrench and an OBD II diagnostic tool: the latter is used to connect to the ECU of cars and start them without a key, while lock picks are commonly used to force steering locks or open vehicle doors.

All these elements immediately suggested a possible plan for the theft of a car, strengthening the suspicions against the young man.; the boy admitted to being the owner of the fanny pack and its contents, which was naturally seized by the Carabinieri: the 19-year-old was therefore reported to the competent Judicial Authority.
