Acireale (Catania), territorial checks: three arrests for drug dealing
The Carabinieri of the Carabinieri Company of Acireale, as part of the plan to intensify preventive activities arranged by the Provincial Command of the Carabinieri of Catania, they carried out a complex operation aimed at combating crimes in general and, in particular, to the sale of narcotic substances.
In particular, le numerous military patrols, located in the main road junctions of the Acese district, they are were also mainly committed to ensuring compliance with the rules of the Highway Code by road users, sanctioning the reprehensible driving behavior of certain offenders.
During of the completion of the service, the soldiers of the Aci Sant'Antonio and Acireale stations, taking advantage of the information acquired during one of their recent investigative info activities on behalf of some of them “old acquaintances” with judicial records, especially in drug matters, have organized some searches with the support of colleagues from the 12th Sicilian Regiment and the Nicolosi Dog Unit.
In particular, the military they went early in the morning to the home of two brothers aged 21 and 23, in the Acese hamlet of Piano d'Api, and, after surrounding the perimeter to prevent escapes or attempts to "throw" compromising material from the windows, they knocked on the door. In fact, shortly thereafter the military hid they noticed the younger of the two go downstairs and, after climbing over the fence, hiding a phone in the balcony of a neighbor's house, then, having returned to the house, he was seen going back upstairs and throw a small package from the balcony, immediately recovered by the Carabinieri, which turned out to contain a stick of hashish weighing 50 grams.
Therefore the search inside the home of the two brothers, the Carabinieri, who had carefully followed his moves in the previous days, informed them that upon completion of the activity he would be it is necessary to extend the search to the grandmother's house too, among other things not far from their home. This news did not seem to have affected their tranquility in the slightest until, unfortunately for them, they saw the approach of the anti-drug dog unit which, in fact, was relentlessly efficient. In fact, shortly after, in the presence of his elderly and unaware 82-year-old grandmother, the dog, in a closet full of various tools, reported a cardboard box containing 105 doses of marijuana already individually packaged, a precision scale and the necessary material for packaging the drug. Having ascertained this, the two were arrested.
Meantime, the Carabinieri of the Acireale station, in a similar anti-drug operation, they showed up at the home of a 54-year-old from Acecia and they have carried out the search but without finding anything. The 55-year-old's attitude towards the Carabinieri appeared confident and almost contemptuous, until the latter they communicated to him the need to extend the searches to his country home located in Santa Venerina, news that he certainly didn't like given the angry reaction. In fact, man accompanied to this other house, he found other Carabinieri who were already guarding the place and, realizing that he had no way out, he preferred to play ahead by spontaneously handing over a wrapper with 7 grams of cocaine to the soldiers, sufficient for the preparation of approximately 25 single doses. The latter subject was also arrested.
The three men were therefore made available to the Judicial Authority, that validated the arrests.
In the same operational context, various checkpoints were also carried out, with the identification of 36 people , check on 15 cars and consequent notification of 6 violations of the Highway Code, including the lack of insurance coverage and the failure to inspect the vehicle.
