Catania: They were dealing drugs by “harassing” passers-by on board their car, two pushers aged 40 and 29 arrested

As part of the strengthening of the services provided by the Provincial Command of Catania both in the Etna capital and in the province, also aimed at the prevention and repression of crimes connected to drugs, the main source of supply for organised crime, the Carabinieri of the Catania Nesima Station, They arrested two criminals aged 40 and 29, respectively the first from Catania and the second from Belpasso (Catania), responsible for possession of narcotic substances for the purpose of dealing.

The scene of the incident was the populous area of Via Capo Passero in Catania: in particular, the constant information-investigative activity of the military had allowed them to discover that two individuals had organized a real street drug dealing center in that very area.

Having received the information, they then decided to monitor the place and, after having identified an ideal and hidden observation point in the area, they carried out some surveillance services in a discreet manner, thus confirming the presence of the two pushers.

The flattening activity also allowed investigators to document that the two, one with a shoulder bag, necessary to contain the classic "drug dealing kit", and the other with a radio transmitter in his hand, were constantly in contact with the lookouts responsible for signalling the presence of the police, they stopped passers-by, on board cars or motorbikes, to offer them the "goods".

At this point, around 13:00, waiting for the most propitious moment to intervene, the soldiers decided to launch the blitz. Without arousing any suspicion, they lined up with their "decoy" car among the vehicles, like "normal" customers, while another patrol, not far away, was already ready to intervene to block any possible escape attempt.

When the Carabinieri approached the two pushers on board their car, they, unaware of the trap, immediately explained the goods available.

In a few moments the operation was launched, and the soldiers from the Nesima station jumped out of the service car, immediately neutralizing the escape attempt and securing the two criminals with a rapid and coordinated action.

Inside the bag the Carabinieri found 8 doses of crack, 17 of cocaine and 3 of marijuana, all individually packaged for retail sale, as well as a sheet with the accounting of the sale of the drugs and the sum of 940,00 euros thus “collected”.

The two were immediately placed under house arrest at the disposal of the Judicial Authority who then, having validated their arrest, issued a precautionary order following which they were associated with the Catania prison of Piazza Lanza.
