Catania: a 62-year-old criminal arrested for dealing cocaine outside his own home in the San Cristoforo neighborhood.
The action of prevention and contrast to drug dealing, carried out by the Carabinieri of the Investigative Unit of the Provincial Command of Catania, has allowed us to stop of a 62 year old from Catania, previous offender, which he used as drug depot his home on Via Mulini a Vento, located in the maze of streets overlooking Via Plebiscito, in the San Cristoforo district.
Following a targeted info-investigative activity, the military of the Arma found that the man had undertaken a profitable cocaine trade, receiving his clients near his home where, after having agreed on the price and quantity of the drugs to be supplied, he went to collect the doses, already packaged.
The other afternoon, therefore, the military of the Investigative Unit went to that neighborhood and, in a discreet manner, began to keep an eye on the movements of the elderly pusher, catching him just as he was receiving money from some buyers who stayed with him for a few seconds. The investigators therefore immediately decided to start the blitz having realized that the meeting was a clear “order” for the drug.
In fact, having pocketed the money, the man went up to the house, leaving the door open and it was at that point that the Carabinieri, taking advantage of his carelessness, intervened, surprising the 62-year-old while he was rummaging through a purse hanging on the coat rack in the entrance.
Once the pusher was secured, the military personnel recovered the pouch, discovering that inside there were 3 pieces of cocaine in stone, the largest weighing more than 20 grams.
The investigators then searched the other rooms of the apartment and, in the kitchen, they found the material used to package and also pulverize the drugs such as scales, scissors dirty with “white powder”, a lighter and various plastic bags, in addition to €135.
It is therefore clear that the 62-year-old used his house as a warehouse for drugs, which he then sold in the street below and this is why the man was arrested and, by order of the Judicial Authority which validated his arrest by ordering his precautionary custody in the Catania Piazza Lanza prison.
