Villa di Briano: He mistreated and starved large dogs, keeper reported at liberty

The military personnel of the Carabinieri Forestale Nucleus of Marcianise, assisted by personnel of the Veterinary Service of the ASL of Aversa, during an inspection aimed at verifying the state of well-being and the conditions in which some dogs were kept in a fenced area reachable from the nearby local road in the municipality of Villa di Briano (CE), found the presence of nr. 2 Pitbull held by a short iron chain in a makeshift box open on one side and covered with insulated panels; no. 2 Argentine Dogos detainees in another box; nr. 2 American Staffordshire Terriers each kept in a box; as well as nr. 1 German Shepherd held in another box.

All the dogs were found to be deprived of food and one of the Pitbulls had undergone bilateral conchectomy (cutting of the auricles), a practice prohibited in Italy by the ratification of the European Convention for the Protection of Pet Animals.

The owner of the aforementioned dogs arrived on site and was reported at liberty for the crimes of mistreatment and detention of dogs in a manner incompatible with their nature and causing serious suffering.

All the dogs were seized and placed in the custody of an authorized facility.
