The 26-year-old Ghanaian was stopped by the Carabinieri with the pepper spray in their possession. In the evening, in Via Roma in Teverola, in the Caserta area, he first damaged two cars and then harassed the users of the ATM from whom he demanded the money they had just withdrawn.
Some citizens who, worried about the dangerous situation that had arisen, immediately reported to the operator of the operations center of the Carabinieri Company of Aversa what was happening near the branch of Banca Intesa San Paolo in Teverola, called the military for help through the emergency number “112”.
The 26-year-old, who had just gotten off a bus on Via Roma, had first smashed the windows of two cars parked outside the bank and then headed towards the ATM where some users were withdrawing cash.
Upon the arrival of the military, the Ghanaian, who had no intention of giving up his intent, immediately attacked the soldiers, threatening them.
At this point, in order to guarantee the safety of both the citizens present and the 26-year-old, who was clearly in a state of psychophysical alteration, the military personnel used the “oleoresin capsicum” spray device provided, which allowed them to safely block the 26-year-old without harming his health and to take him to the barracks.
The man, reported at liberty, will have to answer for damage, attempted extortion and resisting a public official.
