Caserta: Fake Carabiniere Armed with Air Pistol and Identification Plate Stopped in the City Center

Il 62 year old from Naples He was stopped on January 15th in Via Roma in Caserta, where - following a personal search - he was found in possession of a compressed air gun without the required red cap and a metal plaque reproducing the emblem of the force with the writing “Carabinieri”.

Some citizens, whom the man had approached, identifying himself as Marshal of the Carabinieri, were suspicious of his behavior and contacted the Operations Center of the Caserta Company through the emergency number "112".

In a few minutes a patrol of the Operational and Radiomobile Nucleus she arrived on Via Roma where the 62-year-old was walking, harassing some passers-by.

The fake Marshal was surprised when the Carabinieri - this time the real ones - approached to identify him. He appeared particularly nervous and intolerant to the control and was subjected to personal search.

In his possession the soldiers found, inserted in the belt of his trousers and protected by a quick-release holster, a semi-automatic compressed air pistol complete seven metal bullets and two CO2 reloads.

The weapon, even if freely available, if used without the appropriate precautions could still have injured other people. Furthermore, this gun was found without the required red cap, which indicates its recreational or scenic use.

In his trousers pocket, however, the 62-year-old had a metal plaque with the emblem of the Carabinieri which he used to describe himself as a “Marshal”.

What was found was immediately seized.

He was identified and accompanied to the barracks reported while at liberty. He will have to answer for possession of counterfeit distinctive signs and possession of weapons or objects capable of causing offence.
