Santa Maria a Vico: Elderly lady robbed, two minors reported

The elderly victim's immediate call for help to the emergency number “112”, allowed the carabinieri of the Santa Maria a Vico station, in the Caserta area, intervene and stop the two Albanian minors who, a few moments earlier, had violently grabbed the woman, taking possession of the handbag she was carrying over her shoulder. It took just a few minutes for the Carabinieri patrol to reach number 273 of Via Nazionale where, outside a bar, they found the 84-year-old victim still shocked by the robbery. The detailed description provided by the woman, and confirmed by some people present on the spot, allowed the police to intercept the two boys shortly after, both dressed in black, near the intersection between via Pompeo Lucio Felicissimo and via Marinelli.

In sight of the military the two, who still had with them the handbag stolen a few minutes earlier, got rid of it in a lightning-fast move, throwing it into the vegetation at the edge of the road, and attempted a hasty escape on foot. Immediately caught up, they were stopped, identified and taken to the barracks. The purse, recovered by the Carabinieri, was found to still contain all of the victim's personal effects, while the money kept inside it was later found in the possession of the minors, during the personal search. The stolen goods, fully recovered, were returned to the 84-year-old who, reassured, thanked the police with a smile. The boys, a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old of Albanian origin, were reported at liberty. They will have to answer for theft with snatching.
