It has begun at dawn yesterday the operation of the Carabinieri of the Territorial Department of Mondragone, engaged in a new cycle of targeted checks in sensitive areas of the "Land of fires"A widespread deployment that, in the space of a few hours, shed light on makeshift landfills, unauthorized operations, and waste dumping that threatened the environment and public health.

Mondragone – A ghost landfill emerges in the heart of the "Palazzi Azzurri" neighborhood.

Among the shadows of a never completed reinforced concrete building, inside the complex of “Blue Palaces”, the military discovered an expanse of waste that had accumulated over the years: metals from mechanical processes, plastics, construction waste, residues of materials now incorporated into the soil like the veins of a diseased organism.
An area of ​​approximately 2.000 square meters transformed, in silence, into an illegal landfill. Three people residents in the Caserta area have been denounced for illegal waste management. The area was entirely seized.

Carinola – Unlicensed welders: Business closed

A little ankle, the routine of a small metalworking business was interrupted by the Carabinieri of the local station, supported by the soldiers of the Sessa Aurunca Forestry Unit.

Behind the apparent normality, the military found total absence of environmental authorizations:

• uncontrolled emissions into the atmosphere,

• hazardous waste managed without permits,

• untraceable exhaust gases.

The owner was reported and the entire laboratory of about 100 m² was seized.

Francolise – In the agricultural land, the signs of fire

Between greenhouses and crops, in the hamlet Saint Andrew of Pizzone, the Carabinieri identified a piece of land where someone had abandoned and partly burned agricultural waste:
plastic sheeting blackened by the flames, irrigation channels deformed by the heat, polystyrene containers scattered on the ground.

Two owners were reported for the abandonment of non-hazardous waste. The area, approximately 80 square meters, it was seized.

Castel Volturno – Next to the road, the remains of a domestic landfill

In Viale D. Guidi, a few steps away from the houses, the Carabinieri found piles of waste dumped without control:
Old furniture, demolition debris, fragments of sanitary ware, tires abandoned on the edge of the asphalt.

Circa 50 square meters transformed into a scene of degradation.
The municipal area was seized and entrusted to judicial custody to mayor pro tempore.

The particular service carried out by the Carabinieri, which involved these four municipalities in a few hours, marks a new step in the strategy to combat environmental crimes in the "Land of fires"The Judicial Authority has been informed and is continuing the necessary investigations.
