Silandro: State Police seize an arsenal and report a man

Yesterday the State Police proceeded to administrative seizure of numerous weapons and ammunition held by a family from Silandro.

Specifically, the Agents of the Public Safety Police Stations of Merano and Bressanone, together with those in service at the State Police Office of Malles Venosta, following a specific report in which it was reported that abuse relating to the provisions of the Police Commissioner and the Laws regulating the possession and use of weapons, proceeded urgently to a administrative control in the home of a family from Silandro, whose Head of Family – towards whom In the past, the weapons owned by the company and the gun license had already been seized – on at least two occasions he would have participated in hunting trips in the company of family members while illegally using a rifle himself.

During the inspection at the house, the Police Officers were able to ascertain that – although the son, the legitimate holder of the weapons and the only one to have ownership and the possibility of having access to them, as per the express provisions indicated on the Gun License, was abroad for work – both parents, including the father (in the past sanctioned, as previously mentioned, with the seizure of weapons and the withdrawal of the gun license), had access to the same, knowing the combination to open the safe,

Inside the closet 8 hunting rifles, a bayonet, 3 homemade knives and 1.166 bullets of different calibers were found.

All the weapons and ammunition found, as well as the young man's gun license, were immediately seized, and the latter reported to the Public Prosecutor's Office for violation of the Arms Law.

“Possessing and legally carrying a weapon involves the possession of requirements and the fulfillment of obligations and prescriptions that are not compatible with negligent behavior or, even worse, in clear contrast with the Laws and prescriptions imposed by the Public Security Authority – underlined the Police Chief of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano Paolo Sartori –. For this reason, in this specific case, I have decided to administratively seize the weapons and revoke the gun license, in order to prevent and avoid that certain behaviors, if repeated in the future, may degenerate into tragedies”.
