Brenner, border controls: wanted man tries to return to Italy, State Police arrests 60-year-old foreign offender
During the usual back-crossing control activities at the Brenner border aimed at fight against illegal immigration and drug trafficking, the State Police Agents on duty at the Brenner Public Safety Station have tracked down, on board the international train from Munich to Verona, the Romanian citizen GI, 60 years old, with a criminal record for crimes of various nature and severity.
During the inspection operations, the man attracted the attention of the police due to his attitude. nervous and impatient, which is why he was made to get off the train and accompanied to the Police Station for further checks.
Here, following a check at the Database of the Ministry of the Interior, the following charges emerged against the subject: numerous criminal and/or police records, for crimes of various nature and gravity; furthermore, the foreigner was found to be the recipient of an enforcement order of the Security Ordinance of internment in a “Workhouse” for 2 years, issued by the Surveillance Court of Milano for the crimes of forgery, aggravated theft and robbery.
At the end of the Judicial Police proceedings, GI was declared under arrest and associated with the Bolzano District Prison, from where the Penitentiary Police will subsequently transfer him to a "work house" to serve the foreseen sentence.
“The search, identification and arrest of fugitives represents one of the priorities in the operational actions of the State Police – commented the Police Chief of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano Paolo Sartori –, and is aimed at making the sentences of conviction issued by the Judicial Authority enforceable, ensuring Justice for individuals who refuse to respect the laws of our Country and putting them in a position to undertake a re-educational path that can, once the sentence has been served, allow them to reintegrate into the community”.
