Bolzano: Violent husband beats wife for over 15 years. 36-year-old arrested by State Police

In this case, a patrol of the “Flying” team was called to interveneurgency in via Claudia Augusta, in the afternoon of 7 February, following a report received by the Police Headquarters Operations Centre relating to a violent family quarrel between spouses.

Having arrived at the indicated location in a few moments, the Agents made contact with the applicant - one woman of about 40 years old – who was in the garden belonging to the apartment where she lives with her husband and 2 minor children; on that occasion the woman reported that shortly before, returning home from work, a violent argument with husband over trivial reasons, who then took action, all in front of the 9 and 2 year old children.

The man – a 36 year old foreigner with multiple convictions regular in Italy – had repeatedly hit his wife in the face with punches and slaps, leaving them obvious signs of violence on the right cheekbone; so, he had started to tug her by the hair, so much so that he removed some locks of hair, still visibly present on the shirt when we arrived, threatening her with death e offending her continually.

The woman, with no small difficulty, had managed to to free oneself from the furious aggression of man, then to escape and save oneself outside the house, from where he then called the Police.

Once back in the apartment with the protection of the agents, the woman reported that, even though she had never reported them, the man was used to having these violent attitudes towards her. since 2010, the year in which their relationship began, causing her very serious injuries such as rupture of the nasal septum, and hitting her violently even during pregnancy, to the point of cause her to miscarry.

At the end of the story, the lady and the children were accompanied to Emergency room for the necessary care.

The woman, finally determined to put an end to this suffering, has formalized in complaint the incident occurred at the State Police Office which is located inside theBolzano hospital.

At the end of the proceedings of Judicial Police, violent husband was arrested in flagrante delicto for the crime of mistreatment against family members and cohabitants; therefore, he was interned at the local Prison House available to the Public Prosecutor's Office.

In light of what happened, as well as the repeated, multi-year recurrence of such horribly violent behavior towards the woman, the Police Chief of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano Paolo Sartori issued against her husband Personal Prevention Measure of Warning.

"Even in our Province we witness daily what is now a real emergency, which sees defenseless people in the role of victims, often women, elderly people and children, at the mercy of violence from family members or people belonging to the circle of close acquaintances. – highlighted the Police Commissioner Sartori.

In particularly serious cases like this, a timely report is the most effective way to ensure that such brutal episodes of violence do not turn into tragedy, while at the same time allowing the victim to calmly regain control of their life and habits without the fear of having to suffer attacks and the like.".
